After-earthquake Works
More than 1 million students did not have a school to return to after the mega earthquake in Nepal in 2015 destroyed 35,000 classrooms. After consulting the parents of the school children in one such Khokhana, a place in the outskirts of Kathmandu, The Explore Nepal Group decided to build a school.
Gaun Ghar
Gaun Ghar in Bandipur is one of the oldest buildings in the “living museum” hilltop village. This building was renovated by The Explore Nepal Group in 2008-09 after 25+ years of neglect and now serves as a testament to the beauty and resilience of traditional Newari building style.
Bhojan Griha
Our heritage buildings include Bhojan Griha in Kathmandu city, which was once the residence of the King’s Priest. After the end of the monarchy, the then priest left the building and it fell into disrepair. Bharat Basnet, founder of The Explore Nepal Group was able to take this building on under rent
