Bagmati river constitutes the main feature of Kathmandu supporting the natural as well as cultural eco-system of the Kathmanduities. Unfortunately, lack of planning and haphazard urbanization on the part of government and the public has made it a wasteland for household, industrial waste and sewer. Hence, The Explore Nepal in partnership with others took the initiative to clean up the river with the Bagmati Clean-up Drive. It is a weekly get-together of volunteers and organizers where we help extract approx. 15 tons of waste every week.

The river has shown some considerable progress in terms of water-flow and cleanliness since the project began.
